Woke up to an amazing sunrise at Max Patch! Windy as all heck, and trying to set up the Contrail with those high winds - sucked, I would get half the tent staked....the wind would yank it out, and it would try to fly away....in the end, I won the battle.....but the wind put up a hell of a fight! All the headache was worth seeing that sunrise tho!
A quick 2 mile hike to the first shelter, then breakfast - and water. After relaxing for a good while I countinued on, and what would end up being a great 19 mile day. Weather was a little chill out, but the views were absolutely amazing all day!
Arrived in Hot Springs at about 8:30. I got a ride from Zig-Zag to his cabin, where a few others were crashing out. We hit up a local bar and hung out for a few
I had crashed out on the front porch....we later figured out that there was another bed in the loft of the cabin.....no one had to sleep on the floor, or porch.........but too late for that opportunity - it was already morning.
Friday April 11,
Woke up, cleaned up, and helped fix the door lock to the cabin. Then it was off to breakfast with a group of friends - was a great time.
The day was spent hanging out in town. Late that night...some were thrown out of the tavern, and threatened to be stabbed by a local......because of a choice of song that was played....lmao!
Saturday April 12.
Hung out with friends for breakfast and then walked around and checked out the Trail Days festivities.
Chas picked me up, went food shopping and then relaxed watching T.V
Sunday April 13,
Arrived back in Hot Springs in the afternoon. Hung out a little, ate one last meal with everyone.
Stopped by the campsite, Miss Janet's van was having issues, the lower ball mount snapped. She will have to wait til tomorrow to get it fixed. Blue helped out, well he actually took care of everything - and got things set up to get her van fix!
Night hiking! Was awesome, I did not even need my night light :-).
4 miles into the night hike, I caught my right foot on a rock and busted it up even worse. Sucks!
I decided to stop hiking at 2am, it took til 2:30am to get the tent set up......looooove the wind on these ridges.
Monday April 14,
Woke up to find Long Bowl, Finch, Tortoise, Indiana, and a few others walking around the tent area! Very cool catching up to them :-) .
We hiked 4 miles, came across some trail magic - hot chocolate, power jelly beans, chips, and nice/comfortable sitting chairs......awesome treat. And to top off things - Voo-Doo showed up, was great seeing her, she had taken off 9 days to hang with friends.
2 more miles of hiking, then off to the hostel - have to let this foot rest, it is not getting better.
Warm bed, burgers, and great company tonight.....a good way to recover :-)
