Saturday March 29,
Woke up to more rain. Last day for my knee to recover. After today....bigger miles!

We spent the day relaxing, eating.....eating....and, oh yea....more eating.

Dinner was great tonight, had a lot food, and great conversation. Was great hanging with everyone.

Oh yea, the hiker who has been bugging everyone, and causing issues with everyone.......he got arrested! So that was good news, hopefully they keep him in for a long while - he had enough drugs on him - hopefully it gets him some real time.

Other than that, nothing extreme going on. Just a relaxing evening.

Sunday March 30,
Doing one more zero, to help mail some boxes for some friends that want to hike out today.

There was a party at the Hilton last night, a realky big one, when Rock came back to the room, I was sleeping on the floor......he kicked me in the ribs, then in the kidney with his other foor.....he then fell to the floor. Glad he got back okay, but was a hard way to wake up!

Monday March 31,

Hiked out at 3 pm. Hiked with Lobsteh, she is a great hiking partner. The first hill out of the Dam, and into the Smokies is a big suck-ass hill. Just up, up, up - For 7 miles, if I remember right. Was glad to get to the shelter.

Tuesday April 1,
Nothing to tell, was a long day. Was a day of climbing up hill. Really a beat down for ambition. The smokies are beautiful (and the best is yet to come), but they are also the first real "leg killers" that we have come to. On the flip side, after the smokies - our trail legs will be here!

I past a hiker who was out of water on the last section of the approach to the shelter, so I pumped water for him as soon as the shelter came up.
Then started cooking dinner. I caught the grass on fire and some kid started to ask about if I thought it would be better to cook on the dirt........I sorta snapped at him......I really just wanted to eat, not get a speech about zero impact camping.
I later apologized for being an asshole towards him. Turns out he was a ridge runner - Fletcher - really cool guy, and it was great talking to him. Young, smart, and level headed kid - was great talking to/ hanging out with him.

Wed April 2,
Tough day again, the climb did not seem all that steep, but was an ass kicker. It was a day of long hiking, small rest stops, and sore legs.

At one of the stops, I decided to try and use the bear cable as a "self rescue" ......NOT a good idea, was able to get myself up in the air a bit.....then the cable shifted, I went air born and landed directly on my back - with a loud thud. It hurt. Hurt a lot. Lmbo.

Hiked up to the Dome, was a beautiful day, and plenty of awesome scenery.
The smell of the woods reminded me of my Grandmothers house in N.J., sort of old growth/composting ground smell. Was great.
As we approached the Dome, the sun came suntans for everyone!!

At the Dome, much to the unimpressed tourist. ...two of us took off most our clothes, and took a "snow shower". We stood there, rubbing snow all over ourselves....allowing the heavy dirt to wash off.
One of the best parts of being hiker justifying this kind of behavior as normal...lmbo :-)

After heading down the trail from the Dome, the trail turned into a slush river.....wet feet.....I HATE wet feet, and it really sucks to make it all that way.....then get wet feet the last 4 miles of the day.

On the way down to Mollie Shelter.....I pasted it....walked an extra 3/4 mile. Does not seem like much, until you just hiked all the steep hills we did all day....that extra 3/4 mile could have been 10 extra miles, after the day of hiking we all had.

A warm fire, a great shelter, and what turned out to be a great night of sleep.

Thursday April 3,

An easy day, early hike out, so we could get a early entry into Gatlinburg.
The trail was awesome, most of the slush had melted, and views were absolutely beautiful for the short 5 mile morning hike.
We arrived to trail magic, fellow hikers, and a hitch into town.

After the usual town junk (clean up, shower, clothes...bla....bla...bla...) we hit up some local stores, and I then started the free moonshine tasting.....then some hiker stuff.....then some other drinks. After eating a extra large pizza (with the help of Lobsteh) I met up with the group, they already started the drinking. ...the night ended as a LOT of drinking.... (everyone knows I am a LIGHT weight) the whiskey/other booze and beer....made for the videos I posted, and a lot of other great times/memories!

Friday April 4,

Officially 38 today! And it is raining. And I am not hiking in the rain on my this will be a zero today. Yes, I am hiding from the rain.
