Where I stayed
After the submarine, we wandered back to the hotel... only to get sidetracked by an arcade (Musee Mechanique) that had games in it from 50 - 100 years ago. Some of the games were pretty cheesy and others were definitely targeting the morbid curiosity (movie pictures of the 1906 earthquake) and some for the saliors that haven't seen female flesh in awhile (movie pictures of pin-up girls of that era). I stuck a quarter in a machine that will determine my "kissing type".
Headed back to the hotel, got our bags and checked out. We headed over to see the "painted ladies" and roamed about the Alamo Square. This is the same place where hollywood shot the opening scene for "full house". Not that I really wanted to know, but Nikki knew that.
Out of the city we go up towards Napa and we took it from the north and stopped into the Sterling Winery. It was a self guided tour with wine stops along the way and areas where they showed movies of certain steps of the wine-making process. It gives you a sense of the scale of what they do and what they do along the way. We bought a package "3 sweet wines", since Nikki really like of them and it costed less than $20 more to get the other two.
We checked into the B&B and the room was massive. It's about 200 ft2 with a 2-person jacuzzi, a bottle of Cuvée sparkling wine (which was not bad), bathrobes, fine linens, private courtyard with bochee ball, games table, private seating with a private water fountain, and had a 3 course breakfast with all the trimmings. Definitely worth the price.
Went out for supper at Hurleys. Talked with the waiter about nuts and fish allergies and he was quite concerned about it, so he was going to take care of us. About a minute later, another server came around with bread and one of the bread types was walnut encrusted. Nikki had a good laugh (haha) about that. Food was pretty good otherwise.
We ended up drinking the muscat (one of the three we bought earlier) which is a sweet dessert wine and it was really nice. Nikki couldn't finish it and ended up falling asleep.
