Hi All,

After a ten hour bus journey, we made it to Cahuita.  A quiet resort on the Caribbean coast.   We stayed in some cabinas called Brisas Del Mar, which was the best accomodation yet.  Big rooms in a nice little garden next to the ocean.  There are two local beaches, Playa Negra and Playa Blanca.  Playa Blanca is in the nation park.  Golden sand beach with a trail next to the woods that runs parallel to the beach where  howler monkeys and sloths skip through the tree tops.  We spent a day on the beach there.  Swimming is a little dangerous due to rip tides to we didnt go in much.  After some Caribean cuisine and plenty of cocktails we headed to bed. We liked Cahuita, small town feel, where locals had a commnity centre, people rode bikes through the town, and kids played table football and checkers at the local roadside childrens centre. Next day we tried Playa Negra.  Nice enough beach, but again strong currents prevented us from indulging in much swimming.  The following day we boarded the bus to the much hyped resort of Puerto Viejo.  We booked up in hotel Pura Vida, which is run by a german woman.  Beautiful hotel and great rooms.  Unfortunately the resort doesnt really match the hotel.  Beach is pretty rocky with dead coral, which is really sharp, and the only sandy stretch is marred by an old tanker wreck.  Food was good though and tried Sword Fish, which i have never had before, and i loved it, bit like pork, but a bit more salty.  Amy had the seafloor scrapings of Calamara which she loved.

We decided today we are going to zip across to Panama to a place called David!  So Dave, here we come.  From there we plan to cross the sea to an island called Bocas Bravas which we have heard good things about.  I dont think they have internet, or hot water or much there, (we will be sleeping in hammocks) so you probably wont hear from us till we reach Panama City on the weekend.

Cahuita Costa Rica on

it is nice place to tour.Puerto Viejo is a town south of Limon, on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.Cahuita is a very Jamacian town, Jamacian flags, Bob Marley pictures, Dred's and other typical leafy references everywhere. Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is a laid back village that moves to a reggae beat. Beaches - never crowded, surfing, snorkeling, biking, wildlife, hiking, excellent restaurants, and friendly people will make this Costa Rican village your favorite vacation spot.
