Hi Everyone
Today was our last full day in Juan Les Pins and we decided to make it a sunbathing day since we knew we had a big travel day ahead of us!
We were told upon our arrival that we had to get our Italy train information from Nice so we boarded the mid-morning milk run train to Nice (8 stops away), hopped off and headed for the ticket information window. Laurie was quickly told that the trains were striking and there would be no trains to the French-Italian border tomorrow! The woman was AWFUL, nasty and once she told Laurie about the strike, she was basically done with Laurie and moved on to the next victim. Remember what we said about the French? This sealed it!
Good thing the woman said what she said FAST as we ran for the next train back to Juan Les Pins so that we would not waste any more sun time
We quickly changed into our sunbathing attire and headed for the beach! We made a pit stop to get a couple of cheap towels and camped out for the day at La Douce, with bright yellow and white beach lounges with umbrellas and lunch/drinks served while we sunbathed! It was wonderful to soak up that French Riviera sunshine for a few hours!
Ryan particularly liked it as we were surrounded by many topless women with nice tans, but quite frankly, they are all flat chested with nothing much to show off! Once you have seen one set of boobies, they all look alike! Right Ryan? Ryan enjoyed it and kept trying to find the beauty - we failed and just took in the sights!
Laurie got a pedicure from the same shop that gave us our stylish haircuts and while it was not like her Portland pedicure from Heather, it was very nice and reasonable too!
We had dinner overlooking the beach and it was quite peaceful and a nice ending to our stay on the French Riviera! We highly recommend Villefranche and Juan Les Pins (especially if you want the relaxation of the quiet Riviera surf) to you all!
We packed up our things as we had an early wake up call set for tomorrow's journey to Italy.
Tomorrow we head to Sorrento, Italy!
Today's walk: 4 miles
Total for the journey (184 miles, 33 days)
Love,
Ryan and Laurie

! Upon our arrival at our base of Juan Les Pins, we thought we would ask for Italy train information one more time. Viola - we got a friendly response AND bought our 1st class ticket reservation to Ventimaglia (just over the border of France) and the 2nd leg, Ventimaglia to Genoa (another 2 hrs). We were thrilled and sad that we had wasted the trip to Nice! We quickly changed into our sunbathing attire and headed for the beach!
