Hello all:

Today's alarm went off at the early hour of 5:00am, out of the hotel by 5:30am so we could capture Prague at its quietest moments, and we were successful. The streets were empty until around 10am on Sunday's, because of the all night partying!! Seriously, the Irish and Brits were up singing all night and we passed many folks still in their drunken stupor, looking for a cheap beer at 5:30am! These are the same people who kept us up all night roaming the streets belting out Irish folk tunes!

After the sleepless night we captured some fantastic shots today and walked more of Prague than most would do in a week! We took advantage of the wee morning hours and came back to eat a traditional Czech breakfast with liquid yogurt and a rolled egg omelet - interesting.

We ventured across the center piece of the city, Prague Castle, walking up the very steep cobble stone road, escaping the crowds as very few brave souls traveled this road at this early and we had the place to ourselves! The gothic architecture was spectacular and nothing we had ever seen before, dating back to more than 1000 yrs. We wandered down to town and enjoyed a quick snack before heading to take our daily nap!

The Jewish Quarter was our next venture out yet we found the lines too long and ended up wandering the area and found the designer street! The LaCoste shop drew us in as there was a beautiful men's shirt on display. For kicks we went in and asked the price for this simple cotton short-sleeved polo shirt - an astounding $156!! We politely passed.

We found our way back to find a dinner spot and wound up at our own Hotel U Kocku, and enjoyed a nice Czech meal, followed with Haggen Daz ice cream!

After the sunset, we re-loaded our camera gear and headed for the Vltava River and found a spot for our night shots of the Charles Bridge and the city river reflections. We caught many eyes, stares over our photo session as we were surrounded by tiny digital cameras, all with camera and tripod envy! Special treat of the evening was an hour long thunder and lightning show in the distance as we were shooting - what a great surprise and worked hard to capture a lightning bolt! We hope you can appreciate the city night reflections as much as we did.

After a fine day of walking, outstanding weather and a beautiful city, we hit the hay.

Today's walk: 7.08 miles
Total for the journey (54.83 miles, 10 days)
