After a very early start I managed to catch my flight to Miami. The plane was quite empty so I had three seats to fall asleep on. Not quite fold flat business class, but better than it could have been!

Unfortunately when I arrived it wasn't exactly welcome to America. Fingerprints and photos were taken and a thorough look at my passport. I've never been to USA before so they wanted to know what I was doing... I'm just in transit and don't want to stay! The problems were apparently due to my common name so eventually I was told to go and sit in a secure room with a few other immigrants. It turns out some of my namesakes have been up to no good in Colorado and New York, so they wanted to make sure it wasn't me and that I was going to behave! After a while they let me go so I caught my connecting flight to Ecuador.

I eventually got to my hotel in Quito at around 10pm local time, which meant about 24hours door to door! First thing tomorrow morning I'm joining a tour group and flying out to the Galapagos islands for an 8 day cruise.
