Three weeks to go and nothing prepared!!!  Well, I have been buying every medicine known to man on the offchance that I catch something out in the wilds of Africa, but I know that whatever I don't bring with me, that's the illness I'll get... It would be typical of me!

Even my mother has started telling me scary stories about men coming into her doctors surgery with insects living under their skin having been in South Africa - that's just not fair!

More or less all my jabs are up to date - did you know rabies is cerise pink?!

My last weekend in Ireland next weekend, but it just doesn't seem real yet.  Maybe when I'm saying goodbye to my mum it might hit home as to whats happening... maybe...

Right so, going to update this and then go get a few more things sorted out for my big adventure!!!

Well, my last week in England was great - I went to Emmerdale!!!  Had some great company and managed to be organised enough not to need to panic, except for the fact that I wasn't fitting everything into my rucksack to start with.

I left Brum Friday afternoon and got down to Heathrow just in time - I'd missed my bus so got a taxi and ended up stacked up on the M25 for a good while.  Got there in one piece though and spent the night on a plane - not the most comfortable.

We got into Nairobi at about six this morning slightly dazed.  The trip to the hotel was something else - there was a national park on one side of the road but we were slightly distracted by the fact that people kept running across the road, despite it being like a motorway - 80 mph.  There are no lane markings but there was sometimes two sometimes three lanes and it was like being on the dodgems.  We went past a sign for roadworks and were surprised to see dozens of men on the road with pick axes, no machinery in sight.

Anyhow, early days, haven't met my group yet, having spent the morning asleep but we meet in about an hour and leave first thing tomorrow morning so I'll be grand once we're on our way.  I have no access to my phone, presumably some problem with using my sim in Africa so you won't be hearing too much from me apart from by email or travelpod.  I am receiving texts tho so feel free to keep me up to date!!!

Take care of yourselves and I will me!!!
