Still in LA: seeing Hollywood  - stars on the pedestrian ways along the street, Beverly hills also up the mountain: not extraordinary, Monika beach, Malibu: nice
Solveg - a Denish village: too touristic
San Luis Obispero: motel San-Pedro $55 in Monterey st. near California st. - walking in the streets at night : dark and too quiet

The way to road no.1 is closed, so we went through the hills - a very nice way.
Cambria: nice village - many shops, tourists, small houses
Hearst Castle, tour no.1: fascinating, we saw also the movie - great
St. Piedras Blanco: about 100 sea-elephants laying on the windy beach near us!
We decided it is too early to take a motel, so we drove north - then there was no empty room till Monterey, which we arrived at 20:00 (Howard Johnson $55-good, Munras st.).
the way on road no.1 is nice: cliffs and forests. the cliffs begin 10 km north to San-Semion, and it go like this till Monterey  - you get tired of  the repeating views. We expected much more from road no.1!

We spent a nice day around the "city"::
17 miles drive: OK, but:
Point Lobus, a reserve, is much  nicer - you walk a lot, see birds and sea-lions(far on a rock in the sea), the plantation is tropic and beautiful - you can spend a very good time there, as long as you can afford.
The Aquarium: very good! large and high pools with sea-plants(AZOT), fishes, jelly fishes... a diving person  feeds the fishes - they all come to him, and you see  it as the aquarium is made of glass
Carmel by the sea: nice galleries
