Pinamar is a small Argentinian holiday destination for well to do Portenos (People from Buenos Aires) and in South American terms, only a short (6 hours) bus ride from Buenos Aires.
A few hours after we left Buenos Aires we hit grey sky and rain. It rained all the way to Pinamar and the whole evening thereafter. The only hostel in the town is located along a sandy road near the beach and is not particularly central. We walked into town in the rain and were soaked by the time we reached the restaurant. Not much to do after we had eaten.
The next day was sunny but very windy and not warm. Lewis and I swam in the sea, which is not far from our hostel but it was pretty cold and there was a strong current pulling us down the coast. After leaving the water it was a quick dash back to the hostel for hot showers.
I think we hit Pinamar just before the season was about to begin. All the beach huts and bars were closed up, a lot of shops and buildings were being painted or renovated, and there weren't many people around at all. It had the feel of a British seaside town in winter.
We figured the weather in Mar Del Plata wouldn't be much better so decided to cut our losses and head straight back to Buenos Aires. I really like Buenos Aires but the people seem to be a bit lost up their own arses. Charlie and Lewis fly home on Sunday.
No photos for a while as my camera is broken.
