Lima airport, 12 hours to kill. The time I would have to spend here only became apparent last night when I double checked my ticket in the hostel in LA. Arrive Lima 23:45 leave 12:40 the next day. Great!

At the time, and still now, it doesn´t seem worth leaving the airport. With check in 2 hours before the flight I'm sure I'd only get a few hours sleep in a hostel but having said that I know the night here is going to be long. I was expecting to pick up my bag when I arrived here but apparently it's been forwarded on to Bogota, either that or it's on its way to Santiago, where the flight was heading.

Before I left LA I forgot to take a jumper out of my bag - actually it's tucked into one of the straps so I hope it's still there when I pick up my bag- so all I have for tonight is the t-shirt I'm wearing and a few books, and it's not warm here. Need to try to stay awake as long as possible so when I do crash I'll hopefully get some decent sleep.

Louisa, Tato's sister, is meeting me at the airport in Bogota tomorrow. After Bogota I fly back to Lima, hopefully I'll get to see less of the airport then. I would like to try to catch up with Lewis and Charlie- I miss my travelling buddies- but I'm not sure where they'll be by then, quite far ahead of me I expect.

I have been reading about hiking the Inca trail up to Machu Picchu in Peru. It's a 4 day hike - only 30km but a lot of up and down - one of the highest peaks being 4000m above see level. It costs quite a lot of money to do it but it might be the only chance I have. Once I've done this I may hit the road for a few days non-stop to see if I can catch Lewis and Charlie
