We wanted somewhere where we could hang out for a few days and Sayulita seems the perfect place. In 5 years time this place will probably we full of hotels, bars, and night clubs. Right now itīs a small village between the jungle and the sea with a population of just 1600, the streets are a mixture of cobble and sand and palm trees are everywhere.
Itīs a nice town but one of the best things about it is itīs a small town, which it will loose once it becomes developed. There are Real Estate places all over the town and lots of building going on all the time; house prices are apparently stupidly expensive, someone told me 250,000 pound for a house here.
We travelled here with Rhiannon, the Welsh girl we met in Creel, the Aussie girl left us (thank God) in the last town we were in
We are staying in huts on the beach front, the huts are completely open with no doors or much in the way of sides. My room faces the sea and is completely open at the front. A stray dog has taken particular liking to our hut and always tries to sneak in there, Lewis and Charlie found him sleeping under their bed one morning, heīd spent the whole night there.
Itīs really hot here, last 2 days has been overcast which is just as well as I burn really easily in this heat. The last town we were in was ridiculously hot, the sea was so warm that there wasnīt much cooling off to be had going for a swim. One evening we spent hours in the sea until the sun eventually set over the water.
Yesterday we squeezed through a water filled gap in the rocks at the end of the beach to get through to a small secluded beach where we swam for a while, we had to get back before the tide filled our exit.
This town has no banks, weīre all running low on money and itīs about time to move on so we plan to catch the bus to the next town tomorrow.
I want to give surfing a go but the only part of the beach that has waves here is also really rocky, cut my knee open there when we first went swimming, and the waves arenīt all that good here either.

. Rhiannon has now left to move onto the next town, we all had a good laugh with her and she helped us out with our Spanish a lot.We are staying in huts on the beach front, the huts are completely open with no doors or much in the way of sides. Mexican Wave :-)
Hi Shaun,
Rich sent your Travel Pod link out and now it's giving me crazier itchy feet than I had before :-)
The photos from The Chihuauhua al Pacifico Railway are awesome. I especially like the 'Sun on Lakes', and the depth of colour your camera gives in all your shots. Is it the Z5?
Good luck trying out the surfing dude :-))) I'm learning here but give me Mexico anyday. It's not the same at Croyde where we need full wetsuits in this British Autumnal weather - heck they were needed in the 'height of summer' too :P It's great fun, go do it!
