The Copper Canyons are a large system of canyons in the Mexican mountains. Supposedly 9 or them are bigger or deeper than the grand canyon, who knows, theyīre certainly impressive.

Another bus ride, 5 hours, got us here from Chiwawa. The buses are becoming more and more uncomfortable as we head south. This one was packed and didnīt have air con or much in the way of suspension.

We are staying in a really nice hostel, Hostel Margarita, probably one of the best weīve stayed in so far. As the 3 of us have been sharing tents, rooms, or dorms for the last 20 days we decided to pay a bit extra to get separate rooms. Itīs still only about 10 pounds for the night including breakfast and dinner. I have a double bed with on suite bathroom. Sweet.

The hostel offers lots of tours, one of which we did today. Breathtaking views and dizzying heights. I have added the pictures.

Weīve met a Welsh girl in the hostel that is travelling in the same direction as us, towards the west coast, so we may travel with her. The journey to the coast is supposed to be really good, itīs via train through the canyons. We will probably leave the day after tomorrow. If I can persuade Lewis and Charlie I hope we will go on a bike ride into one of the canyons tomorrow.

The language barrier makes it difficult to meet any Mexicans and the British accent doesnīt get you as far as it does in America. Still itīs fun learning the language and we`re all coming along quite well, picking up new stuff everyday; we can get by in most situations. The Americans (the ones I`ve seen anyway) are awful and don`t make any effort whatsoever, I`ve even had to translate for one in a shop. No wonder the Mexicans called them Gringo, an abusive term for Americans.

I was quite tempted to push one American lady into the Canyon yesterday, she was completely oblivious to how loud and obnoxious she was being and completely ruined the serenity of the setting. They`re not all like this, just some we`ve met here.
