Arrived around 7 o'clock last night, about 12pm British time. Managed to meet up with Charlie and Lewis without much problem. We walked from the bus station to our hostel. The hostel is basically just someone's house and they've decided to rent the rooms out and add a few extra bathrooms. It's quite run down but has a nice atmosphere and homely feel to it and all the people are really friendly. We've made friends with an Australian couple who we're going to go out for a drink with tonight. Nice one Shane!
They'd run out of rooms when I arrived at the hostel so I was given the option of sleeping on a bed outside or on a bed in the sitting room. It's really hot here and would be perfectly fine to sleep outside all night but I opted for the bed in the sitting room. There's also hammocks upstairs and a VW campervan on bricks out the back that are used when the hostel gets full. We share the place with a mangy cat that knocks over any glass you leave around and then laps the contents off the floor.
After dumping my stuff in Lewis and Charlie's room we headed out to a bar, the centre of town is lively and cosmopolitan and has a nice European feel to it. People are relaxed and there is that mass brawl imminent feeling that a lot of British city centres have. We sat outside and drunk beers while we waited for Lewis and Charlie's friends to turn up. No drinking while standing up, seriously. After the bar we went to a club that played an odd mix of music. Stayed out until 3am, which was about 8am British time, I was proud of my effort considering the performance I put in at the leaving party
At the moment we're in an internet cafe planning our next leg. Train to New York in a few days time. I'm not looking forward to the 10 hour journey. Train takes longer than the bus for some reason. From NY we're trying to get a lift, through a lift share site, to Washington. Hopefully we'll be able to get a drive away car in Washington that will take us to Denver. There's a lot of maybes and hopefullys at the moment, but it doesn't matter.
