Airlie Beach is well known as the gateway to the Whitsundays and perfect for picking up a good day tour. We went with one tour which visited the famous Whithaven beach, one of the top 10 beaches in the world. It was a rocky boat trip (which was fun) and we snorkelled around a nearby reef where I was the biggest wrasse fish in my life! Huge thing was bigger than me! Nearly gave me a fright, but apparently it's the local wrasse around there and greets the tourists all the time! Other highlights included having a meat feast of a BBQ on Whithaven beach and trekking up to the viewpoint over Whithaven for a nice picture.

Probably the weirdest scene on the trip was everyone morphing into the tellytubbies! This was because we were advised to wear Stinger suits (bright blue spandex suits to stop stinging jellyfish from poisoning you). Unfortunately the photo wasn't too flattering, so it's not on the blog at the moment. Maybe if I get enough requests I'll put it on! :-)
