Port Macquarie was the first stop for us from Sydney (after 7 hrs of travelling) and went straight to the hostel called Ozzie Pozzies Hostel. Nice and friendly place. Here we walked around the nearby beaches and watched the bodyboard competitions. Some impressive moves on a bodyboard! However, the best thing had to have been visiting the Koala Hospital where they patched up injured koalas and released them where possible. It had to be said that the koalas were extremely cute and Rhona wants one as a pet back home! That'll be alongside my baby alpaca which I would like as a pet! We visited at 3pm which was feeding time, but the only slight downside was the pouring rain which literally formed rivers in minutes. However, the next day the rain had disappeared and the sun was shining strongly. I suppose this kind of weather is the norm for the tropical climate up the east coast of Australia.
So, a few days here was all we could have and it was on the next bus up to Byron Bay...
