After the tranquil days in Vilcabamba it was time to move on and go on to Peru. We decided on the popular route via Macara, in Ecuador bordering Peru. All went very easily (sat on the bus for 8 hours) and after several passport checks at the border we got through into Peru. Because of the Peru/Ecuador borders being slightly different depending on which country´s map you are looking at, no photos are allowed to be taken... I nearly forgot this, but gladly remembered before I was due to be shot and arrested. Phew!
Piura was a bit of a non-city and a very small oasis in the coastal desert of Peru. We stayed only one night before heading straight onto the bus to go to Chiclayo, further south along the coast. The night was interesting (one way of putting it) due to what seemed endless streams of moaning from next door... the local prostitute must have made a fortune and definitely seemed to enjoy her work. Hopefully I will enjoy my new job back in the UK just as much.... I´d be a lucky man!
With no sleep and desires to strangle the hooker next door, we embarked onto the next bus to Chiclayo... 3hrs away.
