After waking up with a big hangover from a few too many tequilas the night before (well it was my birthday!), we set off to Otavalo to see some of the lagunas.
The journey to Otavalo was a 2 hour bus ride from Quito and not too unpleasant. The on board film was Cradle 2 The Grave (Jet Li masterpiece!!) which, although in Spanish, was easily understandable. Lots of kung-fu fighting is never too difficult to understand.
Once in Otavalo we disembarked and got a taxi to our hostel, the La Luna. This place was amazing and very friendly. We realised, when we got there, that we were the only people at the hostel and had a selection of rooms for ourselves. The room we chose even had a fireplace... useful on a chilly night. 30 minutes after we arrived, we saw a familiar face outside
We (Arend, Rhona and I) booked a taxi for the next morning to see an array of sites around Otavalo.

La Luna Hostel - Otavalo
. Arend (the Dutch traveller we met in the Quito hostel) remembered we were going to La Luna and decided to pop along too. Also two of the people working at the hostel were Scottish, Kim and Tony. Both were travelling across South America to work on an online website with useful hostel information for backbackers... especially in Columbia. Great people and we got lots of advice, especially about changing the latter part of our trip (Bolivia to Chile) to possibly Bolivia to Chile via Argentina (Iguazu Falls and Buenos Aires) before flying out of Santiago to Auckland. We (Arend, Rhona and I) booked a taxi for the next morning to see an array of sites around Otavalo.
