Up early this morning, Thomas and I watched the local fishermen empty their nets of the overnight catch of eels - very interesting technique with the boats anchored in the river and the nets on booms from the side. Drove out of Germany and into the Netherlands. Went to our targeted campsite (identified on the 'net from home), but didn't like the look of the sites left - just bare patches of dirt with no power, and signs warning of local thieves. Looked set up for real budget backpacking. Decided to find a more suitable camp - followed some signs to a quiet campsite on the outskirts of the city. Pretty spot, but the family-run camp looked a bit run down. Nice grassy spot with power. Arranged bikes for next morning so we could do some exploring . . .
