Surprisingly quick arrival procedure at Heathrow, although a small delay getting off the plane as we could only use one door - some sort of equipment malfunction on the ground. Met by Chris, and after collecting luggage we were quickly onto the motorway heading to Highfields Caldecote, just outside Cambridge. Journey took about an hour and a half. The scenery en route was very similar to Tassie. Boys did their first bit of 'car spotting' . . .
Weather was warm and steamy, so a change out of our traveling clothes (tracky-daks!) and into the shorts and thongs - felt a bit strange after coming from being rugged up for winter going to work on Friday!
Grabbed about 4 hours sleep to recharge the batteries and acclimatise to the new timezone etc. Trip into Cambridge itself for our first bit of sight-seeing. Lovely old buildings and narrow cobbled streets. Stopped on a footbridge to watch the locals punting on the Cam River, and then a brief tour of Trinity College.
Back 'home', where the reason for the hot and steamy weather became apparent - just as Uncle fired up the BBQ for tea, there was a huge clap of thunder and a torrential downpour - made us feel right at home really!
