A warm sunny day greeted us as we woke from our slumber. With clear blue skies we decided that a day of boating (the Lucy Jane) was in order. After a sumptuous English breakfast, we headed for the nearby Great Ouse river at Buckton. The 'Lucy Jane' quickly coughed into life, and we motored lazily along, navigating the meandering and picturesque river with ease. We each had a 'turn' as captain, and quickly got the hang of maneuvering the boat into each of the locks along the way. Thomas relished? the job of winding up/down the gates to the locks, and I had the opportunity to 'take her in' a few times, which was fantastic. Cruised up/down the river to Houghton near St Ives, where we met Maureen with the lunch. Hammered in some mooring spikes, and tied the boat up to the bank. Great lunch and a quick walk into the town, cute little cottages with thatched roofs. Back onto the boat an down the river - experts at operating the locks now - to the marina after a fantastic and relaxing day.
