Sout Africa 2002
Entry 7 of 11 | show all | print this entry |
hi,
From Lesotho we drove to Bethlehem (the South African version)and stayed u=in a fine B&B. The next morning we drove to Bergville to visit the Royal Natal N.P. and the Drakenberg's.
Although it is little over 8000 hectares, Royal National Park has some of the Drakenberg's most dramatic and accessible scenery. The southern boundary of the national park is formed by the Amphitheatre, an 8km stretch of cliff which is spectacular from below and even more so from the top. Other notable peaks in the area are Devil's tooth, the Eastern Buttres and the Sentinel.
We booked a tour to see some San rock art sites. We didn't do a hiking tour because of my shoulder problem but if you're fit and healthy try one of the suberb walks and hikes, ranging from gentle day walks to strenuous hikes of two or more days.
