On the final leg of my Bolivian adventure I took a three day jeep trek through some of the most bizarre scenery I have ever encountered in my life. Southern Bolivia is painted with mysteriously colorful lakes, hallucinogenic salt flats, and sizzling thermal spouts. I've heard it described as the closest you can get to being on an alien planet without leaving Earth. I'd agree with that.

I'm going to try something a little different for this entry. Rather than tell you about all of the amazing landscapes, I'll just direct you to the photo album for this entry. Just scroll through the images I managed to capture and you'll get a glimpse of how spectacular southern Bolivia really is.

As another twist for this entry, instead of the usual summary of numbers for the trip, I will simply paste in the actual set of notes that I kept while traveling.

Friday 9/1
Buy train ticket at 9am
Go to bus station and catch bus to Oruro at 10am (25bs mas 10bs for heavy bag, 3.5hours)
Arrive in Oruro at 1:30pm
Check in luggage at train station, go to internet cafe til 3:15pm
Train leaves at 3:15pm, arrive in Uyuni at 10:30pm (52bs)

Saturday 9/2
Wake up at 8am
Internet in morning/stamp passport
Meet group at 11am
Jeep ride to Salar de Uyuni
Sleep in San Juan; Beers with 2swiss, 3 french

Sunday 9/3
Wake up at 7:30am
Visit lots of lakes
End at Laguna Colorado-Freezing!
Eat dinner, sleep

Monday, 9/4
Wake up at 4:45am
Leave to visit Laguna Verde
Cross Chilean Customs
Bus to San Pedre de Atacama (included in tour, about 1hr)
