G'Day Everyone!
Today's our first full day back in Canada! It's also the luckiest day for Chinese people! And, it's the first day of the Beijing Summer Olympics! It's also our niece Carla's pre-wedding bash.
This morning, after a restless night of attempting to recover from jet lag, Rosie, Ben and I went to the gym (or sweatbox as it's referred to) just a few blocks away from Rosie & Ben's townhouse condo. By noon, we were all on our way to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal to catch a ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale, the southern tip of B.C's Sunshine Coast! Given it was Friday, the demand for ferry's have increased significantly over the past few years. So, waiting for a ferry or two has now become a norm instead of an exception.
On this day, we caught the 3:30pm ferry which got us to Langdale about 40 minutes later. Then a thirty minute drive got us to Sechelt where we all went for a late afternoon lunch at the Lighthouse Pub on Porpoise Bay. It was a beautiful afternoon in Sechelt as we ate our lunch and drank a pint of Canadian beer on the outside patio. Float planes landing and departing around us.
About an hour later, we arrived at Luba and Maurice's home at Halfmoon Bay, BC. It was great to see Luba (Elsie's sister) and Maurice (Bro-in-law), Carla and David again! In fact, it was more than great to see them all, "It was Fantastic"! To all be together again - Rosie & Ben, Luba & Maurice, Carla & David! The Love of Family always comes together!
We all had a lot of stories to tell and memories to share! A lot has happened in the past year! However, this evenings theme was Carla's Pre-Wedding Celebration and there was a house full of family and friends to celebrate with her before her Big Day tomorrow!
In addition, the Sunshine Coast had a planned vintage car parade for tonight which irronically, drove right past Luba & Maurice's home on Redroofs Road. So, around 6:30pm, we all took a break and walked down the driveway (with drinks in hand) to watch the various models and years of vintage cars parade past!
The evening was FULL of FUN and LAUGHTER and FOOD and WINE and FRIENDSHIP and STORIES and MEMORIES and DANCING and more FOOD and more WINE! It was a Great Evening! With jet lag firmly settled in and gravity forcing my eyelids down, the evening (early Saturday morning) came to a quick end with little resistance from me. This weekend is all about endurance and tonight was only the beginning! Tomorrow will be even more exciting!
Cheers, Rick & Elsie!
