Sawasdee Krub!

Since arriving on the beautiful island of Phuket on the Andaman Sea, it's been rather difficult to pry ourselves from our poolside lounge chairs at the Patong Merlin Hotel. Lounging around the pool, soaking up the Thai sun, having hotel staff bring us pina colada's on our beckin call - this is living in Relax mode! But then again, we've been on holiday for eleven months already! How much more relaxed can we become! Well, that's a challenge worth pursuing!

Even Howie, and his wife Jeannie, our great hosts from The Vintners Retreat Bed & Breakfast in Margaret River said after our second visit to their B&B, "you guys are STILL on holidays! Not on another holiday but STILL on the same holiday"! Well, yes, we're still on holiday and now we find ourselves enjoying Patong Beach in Phuket!

Over the past few days, we've taken the opportunity to walk along Patong's beach, as well as shop and eat at the restaurants along Thawiwong Rd (Patong Beach Road) and the inside road of Rat-U-Thit Songroi Pi Rd. A lot of Patong's markets and restaurants for tourists are located on these roads! Here, the meals are very inexpensive and bargains can be had in the markets!

On Monday evening, we took a tour to Phuket FantaSea, a large cultural theme park located at Kamala Beach, just nine km's north of Patong Patong Beach !
Patong Beach !
. The arranged transport picked us up at our hotel and transported us directly to Phuket FantaSea. Although a buffet dinner was an option, we were primarily interested in attending their cultural illusion show. And their show, "Fantasy of a Kingdom" didn't disappoint! It was a very impressive production much like a Cirque Du Solei show which incorporated Thai culture with magical illusions, 4-D effects, aerial ballet, acrobatics, pyrotechnics, special effects, exciting stunts and over 30 elephants and other animals. We would recommend this show to anyone visiting Phuket! The theme park also offered some good entertainment and even shopping for those shopaholics. The colours and designs around the park were very Thai!

We're enjoying Phuket immensely and trying our best to find the next gear in relax mode! Perhaps we'll find it in Phi Phi Island tomorrow!
