It's hard to believe that 43 months ago today, the island of Phuket met disaster as a tsunami pushed its ferocious waves along the western beaches of this beautiful island. Hit hard was Patong beach and in particular, the Patong Merlin Hotel, our hotel for our stay here in Phuket! There's little evidence of that fateful day as tourists continue to visit, vendors continue on with business and Thai people carry on with their life!
On a much happier note, Birthday Boy Rick celebrates his 39th birthday today! Yes, Rick continues to live in denial of his true age but he believes that "when you've got life, love, and happiness, along with good health and faith in God, age is only a number"!
Today we relaxed around our hotel's pool, drank several Pina Colada's and later enjoyed a BBQ & Seafood Buffet Dinner at our hotel's Seaside Restaurant! Upon returning to our room, a birthday cake had been delivered for our enjoyment, courtesy of the hotel management! Yum!Yum!

Happy much belated birthday Rick!! Hi Elsie. Can't believe how great you guys look after so much wining and dining. In one week from today, you will actually be here, finally. It will be so great to hear of all your adventures, well we pretty much have been kept up to date, but it will still be great to hear the stories face to face. Things are pretty busy here getting ready for Carla and Jer's big day, but I'm managing to remain calm and all. I'm sitting at Maria and Carlo's right now, testing out the wine he made to make sure it'll do...of course, it's great. And I'm taking my first stab (with Maria's help) to try and make a Korovai for the head table. Not sure if I'll succeed, but I''m going to do my best. I'm so anxious for you to meet Isaiah.
