G'Day Everyone!

This morning we caught a Qantas flight from Perth to Broome. Broome is located about 2400 kms North of Perth within the state of Western Australia!  Broome itself is 18 degrees latitude which gives it a tropical feeling including the plushness one would expect in a tropical setting!  Upon arriving, we were met with a very comfortable 33 celcius temperature!

A short taxi shuttle got us to our accommodation, the Broome Beach Resort.  Within minutes we were checked in and in our room!  With sunlight burning and the ocean and beach waiting, we were soon walking toward the famous Cable Beach!  Upon first sight, we were impressed by the vastness of Cable Beach!  So much area, so few people!  After a summer of beach life at Scarborough Beach, where space was a premium, this was different for us!  A walk across the beach had us walking to the ocean.  What we felt was the warm temperature of the water, probably 28 C.  Unfortunately, there was a stinger warning as a swimmer was just stung three days ago!  No worries though!  What are the odds of another sting?

We continued our walk along Cable Beach and found ourselves north of the rocks.  With sunset soon upon us, we encountered the famous Cable Beach Camel Rides!  Two companies, the Broome Camel Safaris (blue camels) and Red Sun Camels (red camels) provide daily pre-sunset and sunset camel rides!  It is definitely what "one must do" when in Broome!

After a full afternoon, we found ourselves enjoying a cool beer at Zanders, overlooking Cable Beach, where we watched our first sunset!  It was beautiful as most sunsets in WA are!

After a late dinner at a local tavern, we returned to our resort quite tired and ready for a good night sleep.  After all, tomorrow would be a full day of sun, beach and probably camels too!

Cheers, Rick & Elsie!
