G'Day Mates!
Our time DownUnder is now well into the Autumn season and we continue to be blessed with good health, warm weather, abundance of sunshine and new found friendships. Since our arrival seven months ago, we have established an eclectic mix of friends. While at the beach in Scarborough during Christmas, we met a young couple from Great Britain, Mark & Sarah. Since we all resided within close proximity to Scarborough Beach, we encountered each other frequently. A few weeks ago, we said farewell to both of them as they returned back home. We met at the "Stamford Arms" ( the local British pub ) for drinks and then "Peters by the Sea" for the best fish n' chips ever. We will miss your smiles and cheery dispositions.
Last week, as part of their Australian tour, Suzirya (meaning a constellation of many stars) Ukrainian Dance Theatre from Calgary,Canada arrived in Perth
On Saturday, along with the Ukrainian Male Chorus from Edmonton, Canada, Suzirya performed at the Octagon Theatre on the UWA campus to a huge crowd. The cast of 25 dancers presented a magnificent combination of musical talents incorporating Ukrainian folk traditions, dazzling costumes and skilled technical expertise in acrobatics, ballet and Ukrainian folk dance. The Male Chorus provided the audience with energetic and passionate Ukrainian choral music. At the end of this magnificent performance we were so proud to be both Canadian and of Ukrainian ancestry.
This week, after all our friends left us (just kidding), we opted to give ourselves some down time! What better way than to visit another beautiful beach along the coast of the Indian Ocean! On this occasion, we chose to visit Mullaloo Beach, approx 15 km's north of Scarborough! The swells were big and waves large, which made for great surfing and boarding but not that pleasant for swimming! But the subtle breeze and quiet beach made for a very relaxing afternoon!
Yahoo for Mullaloo!!
Cheers, Elsie & Rick !

. The Ukrainain community along with our friends from the Ukrainian Church organized a social evening BBQ at a local pub near the foreshore in Perth. It was an awesome opportunity for us to get close and personal with this talented Ukrainian Canadian Troupe.
