G'Day Beach Volleyball Fans!

People coming to Scarborough Beach had a few options today!  The AVP Crocs Pro Beach Volleyball Tour descended on Scarborough Beach for a weekend of professional beach volleyball!  Also sharing the beach were the WA Jr. Surf Lifesavers who were having their state championships.  If none of these activities were any interest to the beach goer, then today's big surf conditions were perfect for surfing and boarding or the biting WA sun provided great tanning conditions!

This years AVP Crocs beach volleyball tour is the first of five years where professional players will play in Australia. The 2008 pro tour schedule includes five events in prominent beach locations throughout Australia:

January 25-27, 2008 - Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise) (Queensland)
February 8-10, 2008 - Manly Beach (Sydney) (New South Wales)
February 15-17, 2008 - Port Macquarie (New South Wales)
March 7-9, 2008 - Perth (Scarborough Beach) (Western Australia)
March 21-23, 2008 - Adelaide (Glenelg) (South Australia)

At stake for players in Australia is top prize money, an opportunity to play in iconic Australian beach locations, and the chance to be affiliated with one of the top sporting events in Australia.  Some of the teams are ranked in the world top 12 and will be competing for olympic berths for their respective countries.

The selection of Scarborough Beach was a perfect location for this event!  The Scarborough amphitheatre offered a great center court location for fans to watch beach volleyball action with a backdrop of the Indian ocean!
Other show courts were set up along the beach where the ocean surf was only meters away!

We chose to watch volleyball.  Our primary mission was to figure out what those darn players signals meant!

                                                                                                                                        You Go That'a Way !

Ready, Set, Serve!          img_2855.jpg
