. Tell you what it was gorgeous to eat, lots of butter, cheese and salami as well. Life was good for us at that moment. No time for mucking about, we had to be on our way again. Merrily driving along our little back roads when suddenly we crossed the border into Switserland. No problems there as we were not going on any motorways, how wrong we were because the bloody Garmin directed us straight onto their A1 freeway. ( Shame on you Basil ) We could not get off it and hoped that we would not get caught without our pass. It is an enormous fine if you do. We only had 17km to drive untill we would be back in France and were hoping that luck would be on our side. Yes it was, but the funniest thing was , we discovered later, that we still had last year's pass on our windscreen and it was still valid. All that anxiety for nothing.
We finally arrived at our designated park and were a bit disappointed with it so moved on and found another. Lovely park, lovely scenery and met some nice people there. Rick talked to an old French fellow, who has been in Australia a few times, and was very interested to ask about the country.
Annercy is a nice town, it is situated on Lake Annercy, which is enormous. Lots of old and very new buildings and waterways. We can see the snow capped mountains from our campsite which is rather special to see. A very nice view.
A nice and pleasant day today with lots of nice scenery as well.
Today was the day to start our trip through the French alpine region and start heading south towards Nice. Annecy would be our overnight stop. Once again no toll roads. We thought we entered all the right details in Basil Garmin and not go across the Swiss border, because you need a special pass to use their motorways.All going well for a while. Looked at some lovely scenery, lots of villages with very narrow streets. We needed some bread and found a bakery in one village, guess what, wood fired ovens. We bought a couple of nice baguettes( they are only good when fresh,otherwise would have bought more).I saw the biggest round loaf of bread I have ever seen, and had to ask who would possibly buy this, the baker informed me that it is used during family meals and everyone just pulls a bit off as needed. Gosh we could have eaten it there and then, it smelled so good. We put the baguettes in the back of Charlie , the plan was to stop a few hours later and have some lunch, however after smelling this fresh bread for half an hour or so we decided that lunch would be early that day
