Yes sir we are back in good old mother England. We left our campsite in France and drove to Calais to board the ferry back to here. The trip was easy and as soon as you get close to Calais the signage is very good. Just follow the sign that says Car Ferry and it will get you as close as you need to go. Were stopped at customs on the french side just to check our passports, all ok on that front. Next step to get a boarding pass. Go to lane number 65 was the instruction and wait to board the ferry. Easy isn't it. we were a bit early so had to wait. Last time we crossed there were cars everywhere but this time it was very quiet and not many cars. Plenty of trucks of course, they get priority boarding so had to wait for them to get on first. Finally it was our turn, parked and went upstairs to one of the lounges. We had not had any breakfast yet, so the coffee and toasted sandwiches on board were a welcome sight. Cannot tell you much what we saw during the crossing, it was grey, windy and very wet. We were battling to see the white cliffs of Dover when we got close and they looked a bit dirty as well. Just a very bad day weather wise.
Soon were on our way again but were stopped by customs for a full check. They were pretty satisfied with our information as to where we were going etc but asked us if it would be ok for one of their training dogs to be tested on our car. No worries, so they planted a sachet of drugs just inside the door and asked the dog to find it. Gosh they are clever and when they find something they will not move away from that spot. It was very interesting to watch and such a smart dog. It was only half way through it's training but did ok.
It took us a couple of hours to arrive at Graham and Carols home, it was so good to see them again. Lots to catch up on. Carol had cooked the best roast lamb with roast vegetables and lots of Yorkshire Pudding. Best meal we have had for a long time, also lots of laughs and of course a late night.
Today our hosts had to babysit their grandchildren so we are on our own. Decided to give Charlie a make over , and once again she is spic and span both on the inside and the outside. She will go into storage near here, she will love it there as she will have lots of other caravan's and motorhomes to talk to and a safe place to stay.
We have a couple of busy days coming up, tomorrow we will call on Queen Liz and inspect her house, see if it is clean. Looking forward to it very much. Soccer the day after, Arsenal v Bolton, can't wait for that.
A nice sunny and busy day today. Good to be back here as well
