Today was the first day of Rick and I doing our touring thing. Woke up early so started packing our stuff in Charlie Helios and were finished before  Carol and Graham woke up. Had a lovely breakfast and prepared to be on our way. Just a few last minute details and we were ready to say goodbye to Iris and Mrs Flak ( Graham and Carol,  we have called them that for a thousand reasons but trust me it applies ) We both felt a little sad and will miss their company a lot. We had a ball you two, see you in Truro.  Also their group of friends will be sadly missed as they made us feel so welcome and just made us part of the clan.
Activated the Garmin Navi 1490T ( hows that ) which directed us to Sainsbury's fuel outlet very nicely thank you and we were on our way. First stop Thaxted, a very old village which is heritage listed.Parked Charlie and went for a walk around the village. Very very beautiful and interesting. The centrepiece of the village is its iconic medieval Guild Hall. It goes back to 1462 where all cutlery, blade axes and surgeons instruments were made at that time. It was also used as a grammar school, housed the lock up and to this day remains the centre of the town's administration and culture. We were lucky enough to be able to look inside the building as it is usually not open for exhibition. Just happen to meet the caretakers there.
Another interesting feature was Dick Turpins Cottage ( 15th century cottage ) All in all it was an interesting little place. Needed some bread so found a bakery, this was also a butcher shop dealing mainly in smallgoods. Rick noticed the pork pies so that was the end of "what shall we have for lunch " decision made there and then.We drove a little furher, stopped at another little place and ate our pork pies on a bench in the village green, next to a pub where we went and had a drink . I swear to God it was only a orange juice. A lot more driving through some very pretty country side and finally arrived at our destination Delph Bank caravan park. A lovely park with all new facilities and friendly people. Parked Charlie and went for a walk to the village and back.A very good day but we miss Rick's brother and Sister in Law. Just having a beer and wine before dinner , it has started to rain a little but we are as snug as a bug in a rug. Looking forward to tomorrow.
