Where I stayed
We finished up at Disneyworld on Saturday after shoppping in Downtown Disney, renting jet boats and cruising around Lake Disney, and having an awesome time at Typhoon Lagoon, one of the waterparks (with a wave pool that has the biggest waves we have ever seen!!!!).
The NASA space shuttle was supposed to take off from Cape Canaveral at 7am on the morning we were beginning our road trip, and since it was only an hour away we decided that it was too good an opportunity to miss. So, we got up at 3.45am, picked up our hired car from the airport and headed over there. Unfortunately they had to cancel the take off due to a problem with one of the hydrogen tanks. This meant we had a very early start to our road trip!
We drove through Florida (didn't see any alligators, very disappointed! hehe) and up to Alabama. We passed lots of interesting looking places including the Suwanne River, the home of the National Peanut Festival (seriously!!), flea markets, a zillion bingo halls and the home of the National Peanut Butter Fesitval (I'm not making this up!!!)
We were exhausted!!
The next day we were up early and headed for Memphis, Tennessee. We got there early and headed to Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley! The tour was fantastic, we went through his house, the grounds of Graceland, saw where he was buried, viewed all of his cars, and toured his 2 airplanes. Wow, he certainly did live the life!!!
We explored Memphis for a while but being a Sunday afternoon it was very quiet.
Well, that's it so far......we are off today headed for Little Rock, Arkansaw and maybe onto Dallas, Texas, we will just see where the road takes us!!!!
Love ya all,
Court and Rick
