Chilling in Koh Lanta
Trip Start Nov 16, 2004
40Trip End Nov 15, 2005
Staying at Merry Lanta Hut for 2 weeks over Christmas.
It has been really difficult week. We have been sitting in the sun, drinking a little beer, swimming, snorkelling, playing volleyball and frisbee, reading, eating and just generally chilling. Merry Lanta Hut consists of 15 bungalows at an incredible 5 pounds a night for each bungalow. I feel like I have been here for much longer than the 4/5 days. I could get used to this life! I'm already thinking, 'do I need to visit Laos/Vietnam/Cambodia?!'. I'm sure I will eventually get bored with it but it will be fun getting there!
Looking forward to seeing Neil & Laura who are coming out on Sunday to join us for Xmas
I'll send you an update soon but it will consist of pretty much all of the above!
Have fun! I am.
Update made on Wednesday 22 December 2004....
A phrase used in Koh Lanta is, "Same Same, but different". That's pretty much how the last few days have been. I have been spending the days relaxing in the sun, playing a few games on the beach, exploring the island on a moped. I even had a Thai massage yesterday (completely legit before any wise cracks start). Whilst the small but very strong girl was pushing my knee into my shoulder she said, "I'm going to kill you". Well, she tried her best and at times it did feel painful but I left after an hour completely relaxed.
The evenings have been quiet (well, they were until Neil arrived). I start the evening with a small Chang followed by some lovely dinner cooked by Knok (sp?), the cook/owner/organiser etc. And after, I drink some more Chang, followed by an occassional cocktail or two. Play cards, Jenga, talk/listen, star gaze and the odd footy match. Superb!
