Sunday 30th April
Slept in for a change and finished reading 'Deception Point', before going diving in the afternoon We had bought a package of eight dives at $NZ400 each including equipment with The Dive Centre, which meant we would do two dives each day over four days either in the morning or afternoon. The dives were ok, but the coral is pretty dead, although it was good to be back in the water again. We had a siesta then watched 'Blackadder 1' on DVD.
Monday 1st May
Up early to do another two dives in the morning and this time they were both better. The coral is still growing back but there was a sand sloper with drop off and plenty of colourful marine life as well as a white tip shark and octopus.
After another siesta, followed by washing and the internet the evening was spent watching more episodes of 'Blackadder'.
Tuesday 2nd May
Watched the rest of 'Blackadder 1' on DVD, went for a walk along the beach then did another couple of dives. This time we did a wreck and some caves with swim through's, which were brilliant. Each dive was getting better and better and there was only Sara, myself and Hugh, the owner. We finished the day by watcing 'Remember the Titans'.
Wednesday 3rd May
Finished off our diving package with a couple on the South of the island with the first swimming a passageway to a 300 ft drop off where we were stalked by a grey reef shark, which was cool but made us both suck a little bit harder on our regulators and the final dive was into a passageway into the lagoon against the current which was difficult at times, we had to use our hands to pull ourselves along on the rocks. In all, we had dived eight different sites and although the coral was dead, overall the diving was excellent.
The evening was spent with Sara helping me to revise for my Dive Master exams. I'm glad she wasn't at my school!!!!
