Where I stayed
Woke at 5.30am for our overnight trip to Cape Tribulation. The coastal route north of Cairns is pretty impressive as you drive into the rainforests on the peninsular. Our first stop was the wildlife river cruise on the Daintree River where we saw two/three swimming crocs but it was no way near as exciting as the jumping crocs we had previously seen. Then we moved onto the Marroja Botentical Walk before arriving at PK Jungle Backpackers Resort, which was to be our base for the night. The beach which was two minutes walk from our room was deserted and of picture postcard quality but we were unable to swim due to the jellyfish issue. Spent the rest of the day around the lovely tropical rainforest pool.
Thurs 2nd Feb
Morning of sunbathing by the pool proceeded our 12.30 collection to return to Cairns, with a photo opportunity stop at Alexander Point, a swim at Mossman Gorge and an ice cream stop at Port Douglas
Cape Tribulation shows the diversity with it's tropical rainforests but we did nothing different on the overnight trip than we could have done during the one day trip[, all we gained was twenty four hours of free time and a bigger bill for the accommodation. Also, we had hoped to do a couple of hours horse riding through the rainforest and along the beach but our tour rep hadn't prepared us for what equipment we would need so it was really a missed opportunity. However, looking back wouldn't have missed the trip.
We arrived back at Tropic Days in time for their cheap pizza night again!!
