We woke up to beautiful sunshine at our Arctic Circle parking spot. During our granola breakfast, a helicopter landed on the other side of the lot. I met the pilot and he apologised for interrupting our peace, but he said that a fellow engineer with him had never seen the Arctic Circle before. His friend had distinct Indian (from India) features so I think I understand why. We enjoyed the view together and we all headed off. You never know who you might meet on the Arctic Circle.

We refuelled at the Eagle Plains gas station (almost a necessity) and headed south through light rain and mud. At the junction where the Dempster Highway meets the Klondike Highway #2, there is a small store, gas station, and a loonie activated pressure washer that you can use to wash your vehicle. I didn't take a picture because other than the mud, there wasn't much to see. A retired geologist and his wife, both in a car, came up to talk to me when I was there. I think they wanted to know what was under the mud.

Out of loonies (after using five) and with only a little mud left, we headed south to the Moose Creek Campground close to Stewart Crossing, a small town. Really small. No gas station, no grocery store, but they did have a tourist bureau; an outhouse sized shack on the side of the road. Moose Creek empties into the Stewart River, one of the major tributaries to the Yukon River.

Our SIRIUS Radio was working again, as long as we weren't behind a southern hill.

Our supper consisted of US wine, Muskox from Banks Island, Polenta (Italian), carrots celery, spices, and a chocolate chip cookie, an international delight.
