Afterwards we went next door to McFarlains and ate lunch. Mary says this was one of Dad's favorite restaurants to eat at when they came to Branson. Next we Rode the Ducks up the mountain overlooking the lake and then down for a ride on Table Rock Lake. We enjoyed the views and boat ride as well as the funny commentary. Plus we got the traditional duck call to bring home!
Then they went to get Wendy and we all went swimming back at the campground. We had a fried chicken picnic at the camper and played Sevens till it got too dark to see
Rich and I left early today at 7:45 to start the last leg home. We had to make a stop at The Lincoln Dairy Queen to celebrate the trip with butter pecan sundaes!
What a wonderful trip with the grandkids, Chris, visiting cousins, friends and Mary's! We saw so much and have many more pictures. We drove 5,677 miles and were in nine states not counting the ones we drove through getting from North Carolina after Savannah's graduation when we brought the boys to Illinois to start the trip.
We found that with the trailer we weren't able to travel on 66 as much as we planned but we drove some of the way on the Route in each of the eight states that it travels through and followed the interstate that parallels the road the rest of the way.
We still need to drive from the start of 66 in Chicago back to Bloomington. That will wait for another day.
We recommend you all get your "Kicks on Route 66".
