Went on the Doubtful Sound Cruise. Got picked up from our site in a bus and driven to the boat. This took us across Manapouri Lake, to an underground power station. Rich was very interested at all the "gubbins" - turbines and the like, Fi liked it because it was warm down there!  We then got back in the bus to cross the Wilmots Pass over to Doubtful Sound. Nice drive along twisty roads.
Doubtful Sound itself was gorgeous, very picture postcard. We got onto a larger boat (there was only 20 of us anyway) and set off towards the mouth of the sound.  There are 34 islands in the sound with 5 "spikes" going off into valleys.  The scenery was breathtaking with many waterfalls and mountains.  We then got a pod of around 12 Dusky Dolphins swimming alongside with 1 in particular being an acrobat, it was great!  We then went to the mouth of the sound and into the Tasman Sea.  Back in the Sound we then saw penguins and a solitary sea lion (who gave us a bit of a model show).  We returned to the bus and came back over the pass and Manapouri Lake just in time for fish and chips for tea!
This is our final night with G & T as they are staying to do the Kepler Track and we are moving on so a few lagers were in order. Will next see them on their return for Xmas.
