Beetled around in Christchurch for the day, just trying to shake off the remaining jetlag. Visited the botanical gardens, where I nearly got Fi under a huge sprinkler.Of course it was only funny to me.
Tourist information was very helpful, we booked the rail and ferry tickets with them to get across over to the North Island later on after we've done our circuit of the South Island. Found an Irish bar called "The Bog" - there was a huge jam going off with about 25 musicians, all doing Irish folk songs - Whiskey in the Jar got a good Irish rendition they even had song sheets out - "whack fol my daddio". Hmm sounds very dodgy to me. Had a meal in a buffet-style place "Oxford-on-Avon". Was OK but not brilliant for the price.
