Around Annapolis without a fridge

Were coming to an end of our 10 days in Annapolis and DC, and getting packed up for our next hike down to Miami. It's been an outstanding start to our journey, and we've both started to tune out in our own fashion as the days went by. In total, we managed to get 3 days in DC, seeing the sights and visiting the museums along the Mall. It's an extraordinary collection of some of the best museums I've visited anywhere in the world (so far ;)) and they're all more or less within walking distance of one another. The rest of the time we ventured around Annapolis and the surrounding countryside and enjoyed some sailing, some shopping and some Memorial Day madness. The first few days into DC were early starts as we cadged a lift with Derek enroute to work, and on the first morning, we found ourselves wandering around a strange city without a map or without an open museum to fart around. With breakfast in mind (it was around 730am), we stopped a guy in a suit on the street to ask for directions to a good cafe. He scratched his head and said the best place he could think of was the canteen in the Department of Agriculture around the block....so with few other options presenting themselves, we headed into a huge office block, signed in at security and wandered aimlessly around to find the canteen. Once we found it we sat down amongst a bundle of puzzled looking civil servants and tried to disguise the fact that we very obviously shouldnt have been there.... Breakfast was delicious though....:)
DC had so many highlights, but chief among them were the Air and Space Museum (which for some reason became known to Marge and I as the Hairy Face Museum - which I think would be a pretty great museum in and of itself) and oddly, the Holocaust Memorial Museum. The Hairy Face had exhibits like Lindberg's 'Spirit of St. Louis', The Wright Brothers 'Flyer' and a great selection of Nasa cast-offs.
It also had a great thermal imaging camera, and we managed to get a snap of this odd looking character with a cold dog-like nose...
The Holocaust Museum was exceptionally moving - and both Marge and I were drained after 4 hours seeing and hearing about the horrors of the concentration and extermination camps. We felt like an honorary Jewish couple by the time we left, so a few matzo balls and a few 'Oy Veys!' cheered us up oince we'd walked out into the sun. I stopped short of booking some time in with the Mohel though.
