Glacier NP is another stunning place and thankfully a few less people, but definitely not somewhere to experience the road less travelled.
Went for a short hike - but it's really hard to relax in the wilderness when the warnings about bears have changed from 'shoo the bear away' in the southern and eastern National Parks (black bears), to 'play dead and cover you neck when it charges at you' (grizzlies). After a few jumps when lizards and birds passed and after hearing Rich's comments about fighting the bears with sticks and stones - it was a good time to head back to the car.
Day 2 we set ourselves up in 'prime grizzly country' (according to the ranger) and had a relaxing afternoon reading in our van waiting patiently for a bear to walk past. Again, too many cars made that unlikely. Returned to camp late to find out they had had bears at our campsite all day. Stoopid bears.
