A night in Cajun country allowed us to check out a museum with actual pre-war houses including slave quarters - very sad but interesting.

A highlight of the trip so far was taking an airboat through the Atchafalaya Basin (Louisiana swamp) on a sunny morning - absolutely stunning! Towards the end we stopped in a small lake where a couple of alligators swam up the the boat. The guide fed them marshmallows and could actually pat them. They may look like crocs but they sure don't act like them!
