Well I finally made it to Calgary.... after the US road trip I have added another 1640Km to a hire car (a Crown Victoria which I didn't like until Matt pointed out it is a Cop Car.... cool). Aside from a speeding ticket from a typical American Cop with a Cowboy Hat and aviator sunglasses, I have arrived at Matt and Lynda's beautiful new home in Calgary unscathed........ phew........
Vancouver was fun for a day before I headed east. I took highway 1 most of the way from Vancouver to Calgary, which is the highway that runs from West to East coasts. It is therefore, probably the longest road in the world but don't quote me.... I took a detour on the boarder between British Columbia and Alberta and travelled up the Icelands highway to Jasper - self professed to be the most beautiful drive in the world, through 300Km of the Rockies mountains
My last night on the road before Matt and Lynda's was very apt end to my travelling experience! I stayed at Lake Louise, just north of Banff on the Icelands highway. It is a beautiful lake with a Glacier on the far side (see picture!). There was an Open Mic or "Jam" night that night in the Bar across from the Hostel.
Matt and Lynda's new house is awesome! Everything is remote controlled, even the hoover.... however I am slightly concerned that it will turn on us and try to take over the house after watching the film, I-Robot recently.... I have included some pictures of Matt's TV (used to watch England beat Ecuador, job done) and the outside of the house. The outside is being finished off this week so Matt, Lynda and I have been waving at the builders passing by the window as they paint!
One week to go then I'm back in the UK....
See you all soon
