I noticed that though it was summer the Mapocho River still carry much water , which flows through the capital. The melting does its job. Water is a gift that is appreciated in care and green gardens
We strolled through the historic city center, visiting the Plaza de Armas, filled with street performers, and the Cathedral, whose facade does not guess the preciousness that hides inside. Beside this is the Museo Postal with its French-style facade and near the statue of the Spanish Francisco de Valdivia, conqueror of Chile. Was also required to visit the Plaza of the Constitution and the photo at the Palacio de la Moneda, of great significance in Chilean history. I wanted to visit the hill of Santa Lucia where they were besieged the Spanish, as is well recounted in the book "Inés del alma mía" by Isabel Allende, and the surrounding streets with very rustic buildings. Curiously, the historical center undergoes a radical metamorphosis: by day the place is frequented by businessmen and tourists, and at night by delinquents.
After we crossed the bohemian neighborhood of Providence / Bellavista, center of the nightlife, to direct us the hill of S. Cristobal is the Metropolitan Park. We climbed into the car, but there is also a funicular. From above there are panoramic views of the city and and we were lucky to taste an ancient Indian beverage: Mote con huesillo, it is wheat fermented in ash and a slice of peach whith syrup, this drink is taken cold and eaten with the tea spoon at Restaurant Miraolas in the neighborhood of Vitacura. Chilean clams, famous in the world are here delicious.
