Hello,

From Cairns we took a 3 day/2 night trip to Cape Tribulation and the amazing Daintree National Park staying at the lovely Cape Trib Beach House.

Goodness, how time flies before you know it ten days have gone past and you have totally forgotten what you did at Cape Trib! Time to search the memory banks!

From Cairns we headed north to Cape Trib, via the fabulous Daintree rainforest thought to be one of the oldest forests in the world. Here is a few extra details for any fact fans: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daintree_Rainforest

The start of the journey was very scenic as we passed through the stunning northern beaches of Cairns (where Elton John has a beach house, so it must be good!), before reaching the Daintree Around the beach house

. From here we took a boat trip in the hope of spotting a few saltwater crocs, however this isn't really the season for them so we only caught sight of a little 'baby' 1m croc. Onwards again to a bush walk in the forest which was really cool as the trees and ferns were amazing, and then it was off to our home for the next few days the Cape Trib beach house.

The beach house was really nice, and right on a gorgeous beach although we did have to keep an eye out for Elvis the Cassowary (a huge bird, check back to the Australia zoo chapter) fortunately we didn't meet her.

The next day I took a brilliant horse ride on the wonderful wombat, this was a really scenic ride topped off by the fact I saw the amazing bright blue Ulysses butterfly (http://www.yesnet.yk.ca/schools/wes/webquests_themes/butterfly_lucille/butterfly_species/ulysses/index.html).

In the evening we took a night walk in the jungle, which started off in a pretty exciting manner  as even when we were doing the pick ups from the hotels we had to take two snakes off the road! This was really interesting and before the evening was over we had encountered frogs, another snake, and some sleeping birds and lizards as well as learning loads about the amazing plant life in the area.

On the following day it was back to Cairns, but not without a quick stop at the Mossman Gorge to enjoy the view.

Bye for Now.
