Hello,
Goodness it has been busy lately, I almost got as far behind writing up as Tom!
We spent a couple of days in Airlie beach so that we could visit the picture postcard islands of the Whitsundays. On a rather choppy morning we headed out for our day trip aboard the Whitsunday express. First stop was a short bush walk up to the lookout to see the world famous Whitehaven beach (If you ever see a postcard of the Whitsundays this is where it is taken from).
Then we went for a bbq on Whitehaven beach where the sand was powdery soft, although the picture was slightly spoiled, as this is Stinger season (Jellyfish) you are encouraged to wear a stinger suit which makes everyone look a little like the tellietubbies!
We finished off the day with a visit to Mantaray bay to see the gorgeous coral, and some huge fish which including a Maori Rass which was over a metre long. The fish here are super friendly as fishing has been banned for the last thirty years so we got to see lots of brightly coloured ones that followed alongside the boat.
Bye for now.
