Hello,
Spent the last few days in the relaxed beachside town of Mooloolaba, however the main reason for stopping off here was to visit Australia Zoo which is about 20km inland.
Yesterday, we headed out to the zoo on one of the courtesy buses that runs from most of the nearby beachside resorts and half an hour later we were ready for an action packed day. There is lots to keep you amused at the zoo, although the real highlight is the famous crocoseum which I had seen many times on tv in the crocodile hunter diaries. As it is currently the school holidays over here, the zoo was pretty packed but it did mean that we got to see Terri and Bindi Irwin in the crocodile show. A croc called Graham was the star of the show and he was huge, leaping out the water for his dinner. However the show also had a great section where brightly coloured parrots flew right over the heads of the audience.
The zoo really tries to encourage getting up close to the animals where possible, so you can walk through and feed the kangaroos and wallabies, plus they have koala patting sessions (they are sooo soft!). What a brilliant day out!
Next stop Hervey Bay for a trip to Fraser Island plus pics of the zoo coming soon.
Bye for now.
