Hello,
Update 11/9/07
Just arrived back from two fun weeks on the islands.
When we first arrived in Fiji we stayed at Mama's Tropic of Capricorn hostel (thanks for the recommendation, Dan!) which was a really nice friendly place. From here Poni sorted out all our accomodation and transport to and from the islands (at this point we were very happy Dan had told us where to go as it turned out the lady across the street at Edgewater Backpackers rips tourists off with alarming regularity, thanks Dan!!).
From here we headed off to the beautiful Yasawa islands (which are off the west coast of mainland Fiji). As the boat headed north we glimpsed white sandy beaches and turquoise water, and we couldn't wait to get off!
We first visited the island of Nacula, which is just round the corner from the blue lagoon (made famous in the 80's for a film of the same name). The water around here is crystal clear and also lovely and warm. From here we island hopped for the next week to 3 other islands, hopefully the pictures I'll upload soon will give you an idea of the scenery.
In time for my birthday, we headed south to the Mamanuca Islands (Malolo) where Poni had arranged a really nice place for us right on the beach and it was back to flashpacking for 2 whole days! I even got a huge cake and musical singsong for my birthday.
All to quickly it was back to the mainland and on to our next stop Australia.
Bye for now.
