Hello,
As always it has been a busy last week, however we have been pretty fortunate as the weather has been absolutely gorgeous. After having a day in Methven for our legs to recover after skiing (ouch!), we headed for the Banks peninsula and a place called Akaora. This area was first settled by the french and has a lovely feel about it. We stayed at the Bon Accord hostel and it is probably one of the nicest places we have stayed in NZ, due to the joys of travelling off season we were the only people there and it felt as though we had popped home for the night as we toasted in front of the log fire. The lady that ran the hostel, Cathy, was a absolute gem and even let me go and visit her horses. Needless to say I was sold!
We then headed back to Christchurch to catch up with Phill, and Marie was kind enough to let us stay with her again (with about 2 seconds notice) and show us round some of the sights of Christchurch (Thanks Marie!). Phill had been doing some research into the big golf play off and we went to a place called Caddyshack, which was incredible! They even had a mini version of the sky tower and the Christchurch gondola and when you went through a tunnel there was smoke and music. Tom managed to pull back a win for the Brits, but I turned in a terrible score. On Sunday we headed off to the farm, where we are working for a week in exchange for free accommodation (we set this up through www.helpexchange.net). So far we have been working pretty hard (or at least it seems so after 5 months off work!) but as the weather has been so nice it has been a pleasure to be outside. The most fun job is feeding the pigs, who go crazy as soon as they see you with a bucket in hand.
Off to Fiji in a few days for some lovely warm weather, yippee. Bye for now. More thumbnails ...
